The 9th European Medical and Biological Engineering Conference (EMBEC 2024), held on June 9-13, 2024, in Portorož, Slovenia, successfully bridged fundamental and clinically-oriented research emphasizing the pivotal role of translational research in biomedical engineering. This event, which hosted a total of 250 participants, aimed to inspire and fostercollaboration among engineers, physicists, biologists, physicians, and other professionals involved in cutting-edge themes and advanced technologies within biology and healthcare. The conference received 230 contributions from 50 countries, including 89 full-length scientific papers and numerous short abstracts. Ultimately, 81 papers from 31 countries met the publication standards for the IFMBE Proceedings of EMBEC 2024. Among the highlights was the ThrombUS+ project, which presented the conceptual design and methodology of the ThrombUS+ wearable diagnostic device designed for point-of-care, operator-free, continuous monitoring of patients at high risk for Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), attracting an audience of more than 50 attendees.
