As the first year of ThrombUS+ comes to a close, we are excited to share with you details on what has been accomplished so far and the milestones achieved.
Figure 1. Consortium members in the kick-off meeting in Alexandroupoli.
After our first meeting in Alexandroupoli, Greece, the eighteen ThrombUS+ consortium members hit the ground running. Since our kickoff in January, we have had:
- 2 in-person meetings in Alexandroupoli, Greece and Kaunas, Lithuania
Our in-person meetings have been exciting gatherings where the project has taken major strides and the participants have gotten to collaborate and fraternize. Our next consortium meeting will take place in Foggia, Italy in January 2025!
- Submitted deliverables
Key deliverables submitted in 2024:
- D2.3 Technical and functional requirements
- D2.2 Regulatory framework, security, safety and ethics strategy and guidelines
- D1.2 Quality assurance and risk management plan & activities – Part A
- D9.1 Regulatory compliance monitoring plan and activities – Part A
- D8.2 Dissemination and communication plan and activities – Part A
- Sensor prototypes
Recently the project successfully created the first round of sensor prototypes. The ThrombUS+ wearable device will incorporate wearable ultrasound hardware, impedance plethysmography, and light reflection rheography for immediate clot detection and activity sensors for patient guidance and empowerment on performing DVT-prevention exercises. Due in December, deliverables describing the overall ThrombUS+ wearable architecture and the various sensors will be submitted. With these deliverables, the first round of development ends, giving rise to the second phase of the development: the integration of the various sensors into a wearable device. Stay tuned!!

- S2E2 Certification
Finally, the project acquired Pôle S2E2 certification. S2E2 is a French Competitiveness Cluster with 250 industrial and academic members, located in France and working in the field of electronic systems & energy. S2E2 certification is bestowed after an evaluation process by a scientific council, to the best innovative projects submitted by members to calls of projects at regional, national & European levels.
This certification is recognized by public funding authorities as a quality indicator of a project and gives visibility to the project, especially in France.
To everyone following the ThrombUS+ project, thank you for your support! The consortium is pleased to be on track with the stated milestones and eagerly anticipates the challenges and milestones that 2025 has to offer.
