About the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU):
Roots of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) are traced back to 1920. Over the years, it has upheld the best traditions of study and research. LSMU has grown into a mature university, as evidenced by numerous academic, research and clinical practice achievements of our alumni in the fields of human and animal healthcare and well-being. Today’s LSMU is one of the largest universities (more than 8000 students each year and more than 1200 academic staff) specializing in the life sciences in Europe. Not only it seeks to foster and pass on the classical values of healthcare professions and attitudes of intellectual and professional behavior to future generations with some flavour of respect to traditions, but it is also open to scientific and practical innovations and discussions.
LSMU values are inseparable from respect for life, community, academics, openness, professionalism, justice, international coexistence and humanity.
The Lithuanian University of Health Sciences offers a variety of study programs and degrees with a primary focus on biomedical sciences. Most of the programmes are in the fields of health and life sciences, agriculture, and veterinary studies.
University offers also a variety of experiential learning postgraduate fellowship programmes with the possibility of professional development in very specific areas.
Close cooperation between LSMU and Hospital of LSMU Kauno Klinikos (the largest multidisciplinary health care institution in Lithuania with more than 2000 beds and 2,3 million patient visits per year), which holds the greatest scientific potential in the areas of biomedical sciences and healthcare in Lithuania, creates the conditions to train top-level scientists and academics.
The University seeks to strengthen the resources and competencies of researchers through the identification and development of talent, the creation of conditions for research and careers, the promotion of cutting-edge research and innovation, and the creation of an integrated and coherent innovation ecosystem.
