ComfTech is an innovative Italian SME specializing in designing and manufacturing wearable monitoring systems based on smart garments. Founded in 2010 out of a real clinical need, to make hospital monitoring for premature newborns less invasive and more comfortable, the company has since grown into a pioneering company that merges textile craftsmanship with cutting-edge biomedical engineering.
At the core of ComfTech’s innovation lies its patented textile sensor technology, seamlessly integrated into everyday clothing. These sensors enable non-invasive and continuous monitoring of vital parameters such as heart rate, ECG, respiratory rate, and body posture. The garments are designed to fit naturally into daily life, without disrupting routines or comfort, making them suitable for use across all age groups: from newborns to the elderly, athletes, and patients undergoing rehabilitation.
ComfTech's commitment to social and environmental responsibility is reflected in its status as a Benefit Corporation since 2021. All of its products are designed and manufactured in Italy, with particular care for sustainability, usability, and data security. Products and Technology
ComfTech’s monitoring systems are composed of sensorized garments, wearable electronic devices, and mobile apps for data collection and analysis. These components work together to provide reliable, real-time monitoring that can support both clinical and wellness applications.
The textile sensors developed by the company are fully integrated into the garments using conductive yarns and advanced textile processing techniques. Unlike traditional medical devices, ComfTech’s wearables are soft, flexible, and comfortable for daily use. This comfort does not come at the expense of accuracy; the app and devices are certified as Class IIb medical devices and the garments are Class I medical devices, ensuring clinical-grade performance, ensuring a high level of quality of the detected signals.
Over the years, ComfTech has expanded its product range to meet the needs of various user groups. Main applications include neonatal care, elderly care in assisted living facilities, and physical and respiratory rehabilitation. With the new MDR certification, the neonatal product has extended its use from 0 to 16 years of age, representing the company’s ongoing dedication to paediatric health and reaching full coverage for all ages.

Contribution to the ThrombUS+ project
In the ThrombUS+ project, ComfTech plays a crucial role in developing wearable solutions for the early detection and monitoring of deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
ComfTech contributes its expertise in smart textiles and wearable systems by designing sensorized garments capable of acquiring data relevant to thrombosis monitoring. The goal is to create working prototypes of the ThrombUS+ wearable solution that integrate the innovative sensors and hardware developed by other partners. These prototypes are not only functionally effective but also comfortable and user-friendly, in line with the company’s core values.
Thanks to the experience in working with medical institutions and research centres, ComfTech brings a strong user-centred and clinically aligned approach to the project. Its contribution is key in ensuring that the ThrombUS+ wearable solution is not only technically advanced but also viable in real-world clinical and home-care settings.
